Yay I saw Tori Amos live!! And the show was... just incredible... Even better that all I had ever imagined... Now to begin with my biggest disappointment: I could not take my camera in. Actually I did not even try, because the security guys would have taken it, and I didn't want to (too scared of not seeing it ever again afterwards ). I tried to take a picture with my cell phone, but all you see is a white point on a black background So now, the show: people were really rude because the first part of the show was played by Tom McRae, whose music sounds really sad and beautiful - but people kept coming and coming, and hardly listened to him... So it made me sad for him. He played and sang so well (he's got such a broken voice, it gives me shivers to think of it again), with only another musician playing the cello besides him. Really moving! Then, after a short pause, Tori herself came on stage: I was totally blown away. I don't know if you ever had the feeling to be confrontated with your biggest idol... (Yes maybe ladymorgana knows it when she had a photoshoot with My Dying Bride. Has anyone else meet their surpreme idol? How and when?) But I were, and it moved me so much I couldn't help tears from falling during the first song she played. All the sings were much longer than on the albums, of course. Tori Amos is foremost a performer, and I really, really, wasn't disappointed, all the contrary. She's beautiful, so coloured and looking happy to be there (she even called us, Frenchies, "delicious people"! ), and it was obvious that she played her favourite songs with a big pleasure, almost erotic you know, with her manner to play both of keys at the same time... And the voice effects... And the improvisations... And her interpretation of "Purple Rain" by Prince was so impressive! I must admit she has excellent lightening engineers, too. The show looked really vivid and intimate at the same time, with carmin, purple, light blue, orange and pink... I was very happy because she played my favourite songs: "Crucify", "Yes, Anastasia", "Winter", "Marys of the Sea" (I like this one because of the Marys... It feels like she's talking of me uhuh ^^), "Sweet the Sting", "Liquid Diamonds"... Almost every one!
This was an incredible evening. I will never forget it, and it goes to my concert pantheon, with the TOOL's show in Paris in May 2002, which was extraordinary and totally hypnotic. @_@
The Tori show gave me a lot of self-confidence (dunno why...) and strength to finish my "memoire" that I'm writing at the moment... The work is interesting but I wish I could finish, because I've had a hard year, and can't wait to go by the sea, to spend time doing pictures and websites and photos. But it's so HOT here, I cannot stand it - I'm a Northern Viking girl after all!
Plus I wanted to thank everyone that supported "Nightfall": both Amanda and I got an incredible feedback, and it makes me feel good, you know, to feel this...
Sorry, the results of the messy contest have to be delayed, once again... I'm so busy! Forgive me. Soon!!
